Job Description

Our client, a global provider of IT services, requires a Deskside Engineer / Field Engineer for an 18 month temporary role based in Cambridge. Start date 25th March or earlier.


Role Purpose & Objectives:

  • Provide Desk Side Support services to users in customer office. Resolving issues reported and escalating when required
  • Part of the Deskside team providing deskside services to manned sites
  • Assisting customers outside events when directed
  • Current hardware in use Lenovo laptops and desktops, Apple Mac, IPhone
  • Call response and resolution within agreed SLA
  • Adherence to centralised call management best practice
  • Installation and /or configuration of new PC equipment and software. Completing PC
  • replacements and rebuilds
  • Investigation and resolution of all reported desktop related technical faults
  • Perform root cause analysis of faults and make appropriate technical recommendations to
  • Team Leader for resolution
  • Involvement in project work and conference support
  • Maintaining inventory of IT assets
  • Investigation and resolving all PC hardware faults
  • Providing assistance to Server/Network management groups for daily data backups and
  • server room assistance when required (regions only)
  • To share knowledge with others via the creation and maintenance of centralised documentation
  • Report progress on major calls or projects to Team Leader
  • Handover and provide instruction on PC to new users. (Regions only)
  • Participating in team meetings


  • Expertise in MS Office, Windows 7, Windows 10
  • 5+ years experience in similar roles
  • Client Facing with good communication and customer management skills
  • Ability to communicate and present clearly in writing and orally to team
  • Analytical, methodical approach in resolving business critical problems
  • Flexibility on working hours
  • End to End Ownership of any activity assigned
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Commitment to Company mission, vision and value
  • Knowledge of Lotus Notes an advantage
  • Willingness to travel to other office locations
