Job Description

Our client, a global provider of IT services, requires a Infrastructure Technical Lead (Network and Security) for a 6 months contract.

The Purpose of the Role:

  • To act as a key member of the Infrastructure architecture team for our client, providing advice and guidance.
  • Develop and design infrastructure solutions globally whilst ensuring long-term design goals are set and achieved for our client's infrastructure.
  • Provide rapid and economical pre-evaluations and estimates for business ideas to assist in approval decision making and planning.
  • Provide prototype designs for initiatives across all client's platforms and support the implementation of the most appropriate technical solutions.
  • Provide input into the technical direction for client's infrastructure as new technologies emerge and match these to business requirements.
  • Produce designs and solutions for projects covering all aspects on client's infrastructure identifying impacts and alternatives.
  • Will be required to act as an authority providing guidance and evaluation of solutions proposed. Aligned to this will be an element of keeping abreast of technological enhancements, drawing up proposals for presentation to management for solutions relevant to the client's strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To define and design global infrastructure architectures as per business requirements and strategic target architectures, with a key focus on Migration of services to new Data center services, Vendor collaboration and deployment of new Solutions.
  • To build strong working relationships with global IT architecture and infrastructure teams and IT operational and support teams.
  • To build strong working relationships with key areas of the organisation.
  • To work closely with the information security team to support Operational change and Incident Management and Response activities
  • To assist in the formation of a global IT Infrastructure Strategy, Policy and define technical standards as required
  • To evangelise new technologies in the infrastructure domain - emerging and disruptive and new methods of infrastructure architecture design and integrations
  • Work with the Information Security Manager to define infrastructure security standards
  • Investigate and evaluate new infrastructure technologies
  • Develop standards, guidelines and roadmaps so there is no ambiguity in the use or management of infrastructure services.
  • Identify and drive forward the implementation of solutions that deliver new functionality and make technology more cost effective.
  • Ensure cost effective solutions are implemented that are stable, scalable and supportable
  • Ensure the implementation of any new infrastructure components is carried out with no impact to production services
  • Evaluation of software tools, products and architecture, in order to advise on its suitability
  • Ensure necessary technical documentation and procedures are maintained and kept up to date.
  • Operate as the infrastructure architect for projects as required including identification of services / solutions proposed and creation of Architectural Design Documentation
  • Ensure adherence to security standards as specified by InfoSec
  • Input and assist with design, management and support of multiple programmes and BAU activity the latter of which will be around assisting third party partners
  • Operate as technical lead for projects as required including evaluation and validation of services / projects proposed and creation of Technical Design Documentation
  • Operate as SME in regards to implementations of technical designs as and when required by third party partners
  • Ensure cost effective solutions are implemented that are stable, scalable and supportable
  • Ensure the implementation of any new infrastructure components is carried out with no impact to production services
  • Participate in reviews of new proposals and be a key contributor to our client's architecture governance board

Key Skills/Requirements

  • CCIE ideally, CCNP minimum
  • ITIL certified to foundation level
  • Firewall certification desirable preferably Checkpoint / Palo Alto ideally.
  • Knowledge legislative areas such as PCI, PII, SoX
  • Wireless systems (installation, troubleshooting and configuring) Aruba ideally.
  • Demonstrable experience with cloud implementations and adoption AWS, Azure etc
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role within a large EME / Global business.
  • Ability to see the big picture, analyse complex technical landscapes and evaluate technical solutions.
  • Able to work on own initiative and look forward to anticipate workloads.
  • Proven capability to exceed performance targets
