Job Description

Our client, a global provider of IT services requires an Oracle Database Administrator with a strong migration background, ideally in Banking sector. This is initially a 6 month contract based in London that will be extended further.

Key Requirements

  • Excellent Oracle DBA technical skills - Oracle versions 11g R2-12c .
  • SME level experience with Oracle.
  • Deployment and Administration of Oracle Clusterware
  • Oracle Database builds/upgrades/Migrations
  • Oracle RAC and Clusterware management Skills.
  • Administration of Oracle ASM
  • Advanced Oracle Performance Tuning at various levels.
  • Performance tuning of Large Scale OLTP and Datawarehouse systems.
  • Good knowledge of all Oracle Tools.
  • Advanced Oracle Dataguard Skills - FSFO.
  • Advanced Oracle SQL*Net
  • Knowledge to architect and implement Oracle Features .
  • Knowledge to assist with oracle database design and layout
  • Ability to apply Oracle minor releases and security patches
  • Oracle Advanced Security Options - Kerberos and Wallet
  • Excellent Oracle RMAN backup and recovery Skills. Complicated rman recovery skills.
  • Excellent Unix Shell Scripting skills
  • Creating/testing shell scripts for automation enhancements
  • Proficient in Oracle high availability concepts
  • Proven experience as lead technician supporting major or critical applications ideally with Investment Banking background.
  • Have a strong working knowledge of bank's infrastructure components and the processes required to maintain the infrastructure.
  • Have a good understanding of the business areas and application / service components used and an appreciation of applications from both a technical and business perspective.
  • Understanding of Change Management and Incident Management processes and procedures.
  • Adherence to bank standards for change control, database security, database patterns, database builds and migrations.
  • Define operational procedures and documentation.
  • Ad hoc oracle database consulting to application teams .
  • Experience in leading and mentoring diagnosis and resolution of technical issues.
  • Experience of working in a highly regulated environment and the associated processes and tools
  • Resolves critical incidents and problems and fluently applies escalation and notification procedures to leadership.
  • Experienced with owning change planning, communication and approvals for significant changes / upgrades
  • Collaborates and communicates well with partner teams - application run and build, service management, incident management, server and storage
