Job Description

Our client, a global provider of IT services requires a SQL Database Administrator with a strong migration background, ideally in Banking Sector. This is initially a 6 month contract based in Cheshire that will be extended further.

Key Requirements

  • Strong Migration Experience
  • Experience with setup/configuration/support of SQL Server 2008, 2008R2, SQL2012, SQL2014
  • Experience configuring and Deploying Reporting Services and Service Broker
  • Windows Clustering
  • SQL Server Replication
  • Project build, test and implementation of Database components
  • Must have extensive experience with Log Shipping, Database Snapshots, Database Mirroring, San Replication and experience with AlwaysOn
  • Demonstrate extensive expertise in performance tuning including both query and server optimization
  • Ability to understand and influence high level technical design of Database components
  • Proven experience as lead technician supporting major or critical applications ideally with Investment Banking background.
  • Have a good understanding of the business areas and application / service components used and an appreciation of applications from both a technical and business perspective.
  • Understanding of Change Management and Incident Management processes and procedures.
  • Adherence to bank standards for change control, database security, database patterns, database builds and migrations.
  • Define operational procedures and documentation.
  • Ad hoc oracle database consulting to application teams.
  • Experience in leading and mentoring diagnosis and resolution of technical issues.
  • Experience of working in a highly regulated environment and the associated processes and tools
  • Resolves critical incidents and problems and fluently applies escalation and notification procedures to leadership.
  • Experienced with owning change planning, communication and approvals for significant changes / upgrades
  • Collaborates and communicates well with partner teams - application run and build, service management, incident management, server and storage
