Job Description

Our client, a global provider of IT services, requires an experienced VMWARE Engineer for a 6 month+ temporary contract based in London.

Overall purpose of the role

Virtualisation and Cloud System Support role capable of managing and/or participating in projects such as SDDC / VMware / VCenter / ESX upgrades, deployments or similar.

Key Accountabilities

o Current knowledge and expertise in VMware ESX/ESXi 5.x, 6.x, VMware vCenter, VMware Cloud Foundation, vRealize Operations, and other VMware products.

o VMware Certified Professional preferred.

o PowerCLI, PowerShell, and/or Python or similar coding skills with ability to use such tools for the benefits of Automation a big plus.

o Working knowledge and demonstrable experience of supporting MS Windows and/or RHEL on virtual platforms.

o HP, Dell, and Cisco UCS server hardware technologies.

o Experience working with ServiceFirst a plus.

o Good communication and presentation skills.

o Structured technical problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis.

o Strong customer liaison and relationship management skills.

o Must be able to take ownership of issues and drive to ensure successful closure for the customer, peers and IT Production.

Basic Qualifications/Skills:

o 2+ years of experience providing support for VMware vCenter and VMware ESXi 5.x/6.x.

o 2+ years of experience in enterprise size financial organization preferred.

o 2+ years of experience with PowerCLI, PowerShell and/or Python or similar coding skills a big plus.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

o VCP 5 - VCP6-DCV Certification preferred.

o Experience with Nutanix, vSAN or any other Hyperconverged Solution.

o Understanding of cloud-hosted application architecture.

o Preferred knowledge of HP, Dell, and Cisco server hardware.

o Basic knowledge of UNIX.

o Understanding of networking concepts and technologies.

o Extensive experience in working with highly technical individuals.

o Strong collaboration and communication skills.

o Self-awareness and desire to improve your skills.

o Experience of a support organisation and associated tools such as ServiceFirst.
